Book Roast’s O.W.L’s Read-a-thon TBR

I’m not sure if many of you participate in read-a-thons are are active in the Booktube community, but there is this AMAZING Booktuber with the handle Book Roast that I love to watch! Here’s her channel.

For the past three years she has done a magical harry potter themed read along called the O.W.L’s, that mirrors the O.W.L exams given to students at Hogwarts. and it is AMAZING. She puts so much time and effort into creating documents and challenges it blows my mind! I mean Look at this… She makes these super detailed high quality documents you can print to play along with! There’s even little diplomas you can print at the end if you successfully pass all your exams. Heart-melting!

This will be my first year taking the O.W.L’s and I hope many of you will consider participating too! Here is the announcement video where she explains everything! all the documents she links in the description of her video as well as doing a walk through of how the process works.

I’ll be honest I went back and printed out all the things to do with the last two years of O.W.L’s as well as the N.E.W.T’s that follow. I really struggled over whether I should start from the beginning or start with the 3rd year. I ultimately decided to just start with the 3rd year, (I can always go back and do the other challenges on my own time) because I didn’t want to miss out on the twitter reading sprints or social aspect of this challenge. If, like me, you are also interested in doing the challenges from the past years she has a playlist on her Youtube channel here, it also covers several other read-a-thons and challenges. If you are interested in doing some of them let me know and we can retroactively do them together!

The #Magicalreadathon2020 or #owlsreadathon2020 starts on April 1st, and since most of us are self-isolating now is a great time to participate in a month long reading challenge!

Be sure to follow the twitter account here so you can participate in any of the reading sprints (which is just when we all try to read for the same amount of time together, so theoretically you’re reading with people across the globe!)

For me I will be taking the required O.W.L’s to become a Trader of Magical Tomes. This includes the following exams: Ancient Runes, Charms, History of Magic, and Transfiguration. So below is my TBR list!

For Ancient Runes I have to read a book with a heart on the cover or in the title, so I’m looking forward to finally getting around to reading Inkheart by Cornelia Funke

For Charms I need to read a book with a white cover so I’ve picked the Queen’s Assassin by Melissa de la Cruz

For History of Magic I have to read a book that features Witches or Wizards and I’ve chosen Serpent &Dove by Shelby Mahurin

Lastly for Transfiguration I need to read a book or series that includes shapeshifting so I’m going for A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Mass

All of these I will be trying to read physically except for Serpent and Dove which I have on audio. This is Kind of a lot since I already have 2 other books to read in April for other books clubs and might be adding a third book club.. am I crazy? YES!

If you guys are joining share your TBR list in the comments and tell me which career you’re going for! I really want to know!!
